A d1 girls soccer championship battle went the distance. the 2026 OIA D1 Girls Soccer Championship match would see the Campbell Sabers and the Kaiser Cougars. the lady cougars would upset the 2025 reigning oia d1 champs of mililani in the semifinal match to earn their spot in the finals and the lady sabers would dominate pearl city to make their finals appearance since 2024 when they last won it.
both teams headed to the match undefeated. with the new format schedule for the oia, both teams would play a home and home game against the teams they faced. the lady cougars would have only one game where they would end up with a draw and two for the lady sabers.
both teams have been solid throughout the season on both sides of the ball. with a chance to be named the new champs on the block, both teams knew it would come down to being the better team with their defensive stops and counter attacks.
The lady cougars would start the game with what looked like a knock out punch. cougars sophomore midfielder, skyy smith, would score within 2 minutes of the match with a shot from outside the box. it was the first time this season where the campbell sabers were trailing in a match. it was all kaiser in the first half, as Campbell struggled to get things going on offense.
the second half would be a different story for the lady sabers. shortly after the second half was started, they would find themselves with a chance to tie the game. Campbell would earn themselves a pk after a foul inside the box from the cougars. saber senior center midfield, Miyah Suster, would tie things up for the sabers and momentum was back on their side.
the two teams would keep attacking and making big stops as the championship match would head into overtime. with overtime rules being a golden goal and pk if needed after two half, both teams knew that this was their shot to end it before pk.
The two teams would have an explosive overtime as Campbell and Kaiser had the chance to seal the win. It would end up going to PK and the Lady Sabers are in the same position before back in 2024 when they won the championship match against mililani. with this moment being dejavu for the lady sabers, the cougars looked to change that and become champs.
both teams would score their first two attempts. Campbell Goalkeeper, Jayci Pong, would come up clutch saving the last two goals. saber senior, Miyah Suster, would end the match in dramatic fashion, as the Campbell sabers are named your 2026 OIA D1 Girl’s Soccer Champions! Congratulations to the Lady Sabers Soccer Program, School, and Community!
