Campbell came out firing in the 2026 OIA D1 Championship, taking down Kapolei 19–1 to secure the title in a statement performance from start to finish. Both teams entered the final after grinding through tough semifinal matchups, with Campbell surviving an extra-innings battle against Mililani to punch their ticket, while Kapolei came off a narrow win over Moanalua the night before.
From the first inning, Campbell set the tone early. The Sabers came out aggressively at the plate, putting up 6 runs right away and immediately putting Kapolei under pressure. That early start forced Kapolei to play from behind the entire game, and even when they tried to respond, Campbell stayed in control of the pace and momentum.
Kapolei did manage to scratch across a run and had moments where they threatened, but every time they tried to build something, Campbell answered back. The defense stayed locked in behind the pitching, and the offense continued to find ways on base, working counts and stacking quality at-bats to keep innings alive.
The game completely shifted in the 5th inning when Campbell delivered the knockout punch. The Sabers exploded for 10 runs in the frame, turning a comfortable lead into a runaway. The inning felt nonstop, with hit after hit, runners constantly moving, and Kapolei unable to slow anything down once it got rolling. By the time the dust settled, the game had fully opened up, and Campbell had taken complete control.
Dalexy Sanchez was the impact player of the game and delivered one of the biggest championship performances of the season. She came through with a grand slam and another home run, driving in runs in key moments and setting the tone for the entire offensive surge. Around her, the lineup stayed consistent, with multiple players stepping up to extend innings and keep pressure on Kapolei throughout the game.
Even with the score separating, Campbell never let their foot off the gas. The energy stayed the same from the first inning to the last, with every at-bat feeling like it added to the momentum of a championship performance. Kapolei continued to battle, but Campbell’s execution, discipline at the plate, and ability to finish innings made the difference.
With the OIA D1 Championship secured, Campbell now has their eyes set on the Koa Wood and looks to bring it back to Ewa Beach for the first time since 2023. congratulations to the Campbell sabers softball program, school, and community!
