Honolulu, HI
The Biola Eagles looked to take care of business on the road against the Chaminade Silverswords Thursday night. It would also be a special night as two former high school teammates of Campbell High School would share the court once again but in different threads. Eagle Sophomore Guard and Ewa Beach native, Aliyah Bantolina, would make her homecoming return to the islands to face off against Ewa Beach native and Junior Silversword Guard, Julien Parado.
a homecoming night that was special to both players. the two have won an oia d1 girls basketball championship together in high school and now they get to go one on one. The Eagles took an early lead from the jump and didn’t look back. making their stops on defense and finding the shots go down, the eagles led by Junior Guard, Laney Grider, would put up 17 of the Eagles 63 points.
the silverswords who have yet to win a game, found some momentum in the first half of the match, but struggled to knock down shots. it was a tie ball game halfway through the 2nd quarter, but the pressure and execution from the eagles gave them the opportunity to run away with the game. Parado would end the night with 11 points and Bantolina with 8 points.
the Biola Eagles get the win over Chaminade on the road as they will see each other again in La mirada, California on February 2nd.
