Mililani and Kapa’a faced off in the knockout round of the 2026 glenn ah sam Trojan Softball Classic, a matchup between the two state champions from the previous year and what could possibly be a state tournament matchup, with the kapa'a warriors moving up to division 1 after going back to back in the d2 state championships, the lady warriors know it will take a lot of hard work and reps to take down the reigning and defending back to back state champs of mililani.
we would see a preview of what could possibly be a title match or a playoff match throughout the hhsaa d1 girls softball tournament. the mililani trojans are led by juniors pitcher, hinano Bautista, and infielder, Kahiau aina. the two home-run stars have committed to their college schools during the off-season. hinano Bautista has committed to play for the university of california at Berkley, and Kahiau aina has committed to the university of Washington. the star duos look to lead the trojans again in hopes of a three-peat state title.
as for the kapa'a warriors, they are led by senior outfield and Arizona state university commit, Sienna Yamashita. the back to back d2 champs hopes to led her squad through the tough and challenging division 1 schedule, as the lady warriors also look to three peat, but add a d1 title to their name this time around.
Mililani showcased their talent and demonstrated why they are still the top team in the state. juniors Hinano Bautista and Emma Parker hit home runs to help the Trojans build an early lead and maintain it throughout the game. Kapa’a scored two runs in the final moments, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback for the Lady Warriors.
although falling to the d1 champs in the knockout round in the preseason tournament, the lady warriors didn't let the trojans score that easily. it was in the bottom of the 3rd and 5th inning where the trojans found themselves with the bases l0aded and 2 outs. kapa'a pitcher, Presley Gibson, saved the lady warriors with what could've been more runs added to the trojans early 2-0 lead with the two strikeouts she had.
the two teams know each other very well. with many players playing in the same softball club during the offseason, it's always fun and interesting to see how their game plays out with their respective high school. Mililani advances to the next round of the 2026 trojan softball classic, as the kapa'a warriors run in the tournament comes to an end.
