it's not often that big high school basketball teams on the mainland come to play on the north shore of Oahu. this year, a whole bunch of talent would be showcasing their skills and talents for the chance to be crowned champion. an all big name showdown went down on the north shore this past weekend for girl's high school basketball. the j5 inc, who also hosted the ncaa Hawai'i North Shore Classic, held a tournament right down the road at kahuku for the she got game classic.
the kahuku red raiders would be this year's tournament host and would be one of the many teams who participated. the local teams that were invited: 'iolani raiders, kamehameha-kapalama, and maryknoll spartans. we would also see teams from the mainland like: Faith family academy (tx), Clovis west (CA), north Crowley (TX), mount Zion from (Md), montverde academy (FL) and millennium academy (AZ).
the millennium tigers and montverde eagles were the top two teams favored in the tournament. millennium girls basketball team won the state championship in Arizona and montverde isn't no stranger to basketball, given the nba talents that have come from that school.
with many talented teams participating, this tournament is a great way for local teams to get exposed to the mainland talent and for them to also show what the ballers that the islands have to offer.
Day 1:
Millennium Squeezes By ‘Iolani
The 2025 She Got Game Classic saw a bunch of local and mainland talent. The Millennium Tigers and ‘Iolani Raiders faced off on the North Shore of O’ahu and it did not disappoint. It was a close battle between the two teams, as ‘Iolani almost pulled an upset over the best team from Arizona. It would be Dashia Richardson who would erupt with 22 points for the Tigers to overcome the Raiders in the final minutes of the game. The Tigers win their opener and will look to continue to dominate the tournament.

Eagles Soarin in Paradise
The final match of the She Got Game Classic featured a team who is well known in the sport of basketball and the reigning State Champion of Hawai’i. The Montverde Academy and the Kamehameha-Kapalama Warriors tipped off a late match up in the tournament. With what could’ve been another close upset by the home team, the Eagles wouldn’t let the time zone difference affect their play and would find their rhythm in the second half and get the dub.

Although both Hawai’i teams took the loss on opening night, they showed that the local talent aren’t afraid of the competition no matter how big the ranked teams are. Both ‘Iolani and Kamehameha showed why there were the top two teams in the state and they definitely showed the potential leading up to the season.
