Salt Lake, HI

with just a few games left in the 2025 oia girls volleyball season, a lot of teams would be looking to secure their seedings as the post season is near. the two biggest rivals met in salt lake Monday Night. The Kahuku Lady Red Raiders made the drive to Salt Lake, where the Moanalua Lady Menes sought to avenge their loss against the Lady Raiders earlier in the season. Kahuku looked to remain undefeated in league play and clinch the division.
The Lady Raiders looked to their leaders of the team, twin sisters Lamona and Elenoa Lauhingoa, who have been dominating the court with thier presence. The duo and Tilauana Tonga, have been key reasons on the dominant season the lady raiders have been having so far. As for the Lady Menes, Surfia Grounds was thier key player in tonights matchup and has been having a season of her own. A familiar face would share the court as well, as former Lady RAider and now Lady mene, Auvaa Kingston, would faceoff against her former team looking to hand them thier first loss.
the two teams faced off earlier in the season up on the north shore, where kahuku would take the dub with a clean sweep. in what looked to be round 2 of the same outcome for the lady raiders on monday night, went completely south on a pivitol matchup.
A strong start for the lady raiders went their way in sets one and two with the help of Sophomore outside Hitter, Makamae schilling, who finished the night with 8 kills, 6 aces, and 26 digs. her performance came up big in key moments throughout the early sets and later on in the match. with the unfortunate injury of the twin duos of lamona and elenoa, the raiders struggled after sets one and two, where the lady menes took advantage of.
Surfia Grounds, Sophomore Outside Hitter, would be the main focal points of attack for Moanalua as she finished the game with 23 kills and 19 digs. Sienna lee, Junior Defensive specialist, was another key player in the big upset as she recorded for 4 aces, 7 assists and 40 digs. The Two made their presence known and made clutch plays throughout the match, especially in set three where the lady raiders could've called aloha ball.
The Lady Menes pull the upset win at home and a reverse sweep would make it the game of the week for Girls Volleyball. The Lady menes hand kahuku thier first loss and claim the number one spot for now. as we continue to cover both oia and ilh girls volleyball, a lot of things are on the line and a lot of teams will be putting on the pressure to ultimately win the koa wood trophy.
