Honolulu, hi
We have reached November, which means the postseason for Football is here. The OIA D2 Championship match between the Roosevelt Rough Riders and the Pearl City Chargers was a match that was dominated by the Rough Riders. A rematch of the regular season series, in which Roosevelt ran away in that game by 18 points.
Roosevelt was on a hot run, ending the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record in OIA D2 league play. Pearl City would be the second seed heading into the postseason tournament, knocking off Kalaheo in the semifinal matchup.
The defending and reigning back to back champs, looked to solidify themselves into the history books, in hopes to be the first D2 school to go back to back to back. History was on the line for the Rough Riders, and Pearl City was looking to play spoiler on their party.
A rainy night would dawn upon the game throughout the night, as it would slow down Roosevelt to a certain extent. It wouldn't take long until the Rough Riders saw the end zone as the dominant connection between Kaeo Bush and Ioane Kamanao would shine through the pouring rain.
The Roosevelt defense would keep Pearl City to a halt in the first half, maintaining a 17-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
Senior WR, Ioane Kamanao, who would also be the key player of the championship match, helped lead the way for Roosevelt to see the three-peat come to life. Kamanao would have himself a game, with being the first player in Roosevelt history would have a Touchdown, an Interception, and a made field goal in one game.
The Rough Riders were too much for the Chargers, and they are named your 2025 OIA D2 Football Champions and are back to back to back champs. Congratulations to the Rough Rider Football program, school, and community!

Final Score: Roosevelt 31 - Pearl City 14
