Championship baseball usually comes down to one moment, one swing, or one mistake. On Saturday night, Mililani found theirs and made history doing it. In a tense pitchers' duel that had fans locked in from first pitch to final out, the Trojans walked off PAC-5 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning to capture the 2026 HHSAA Division I Baseball State Championship, securing the first baseball state title in program history and bringing the Koa Wood to Mililani for the first time. It was the kind of championship game where every pitch mattered and one moment was always going to decide everything.
Coming into the title game, Mililani looked every bit like a team on a mission. The Trojans handled business throughout the state tournament and showed why they belonged on the biggest stage, dominating much of the competition on their road to the final. Across the diamond stood a tough PAC-5 squad that battled through the bracket and came into championship night ready for a fight. From the opening inning, both teams traded momentum in a gritty defensive battle where runs were hard to come by, and every baserunner carried extra weight.
The championship quickly turned into a straight pitchers' duel between Ezra Ugale and PAC-5 ace Colten Amai Nakagawa. Ugale stayed composed from start to finish, attacking hitters and never letting PAC-5 settle into a rhythm offensively. The Mililani right-hander tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits while striking out four in one of the biggest performances of his season. Nakagawa was just as tough on the other side, dealing six scoreless innings and keeping the Trojans searching for answers through most of the night.
Even without running early, Mililani continued applying pressure. Knox Marzo delivered two hits to spark the offense, while Jonah Parker also added a pair of knocks in a game where every hit mattered. Koa Marzo Jr., Ezra Ugale, and Kameron Pongasi each chipped in hits as the Trojans slowly looked for their breakthrough moment. Still, PAC-5’s defense answered time after time, making plays and forcing Mililani to stay patient as the pressure inside the ballpark continued to build inning after inning.
Then came the moment Mililani will remember forever. With the championship still scoreless entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Trojans finally found life. Jake Nishimoto came around to score the game’s only run before Koa Marzo Jr. delivered the walk-off RBI that sent the Mililani dugout storming onto the field in celebration. After seven innings of pressure-packed baseball, Mililani had finally broken through in the biggest moment of the season, turning a championship battle into a historic celebration.
For Mililani, this championship meant more than just ending the year on top. The Trojans officially captured the first HHSAA Division I Baseball State Championship in school history, cementing this group among the most memorable teams the program has ever seen. Through dominant pitching, timely hitting, and championship composure, Mililani found a way when it mattered most, bringing the Koa Wood to Mililani for the first time and giving the Trojan community a moment they will not forget anytime soon. Under the brightest lights of the season, Mililani made history and officially stamped their place in Hawai‘i high school baseball.
Final Score: Mililani 1 PAC-5 0
