Waipahu, HI
the Mililani trojans captured the OIA Championship with a dominant 13–3 win over the Pearl City chargers, going back-to-back after a season defined by steady pressure and late-game execution. The Trojans and Pearl City had met earlier in the season in a competitive matchup, adding even more weight to the 2026 oia baseball championship showdown, with both teams familiar with each other’s style of play.
The championship game opened with Mililani taking an early lead in the first inning, while Pearl City responded in the second and third to keep things tight. Both teams settled into a rhythm as the game went back and forth, with Pearl City doing just enough to stay within reach while Mililani looked for a moment to break things open.
That moment came in the bottom of the 6th when Mililani completely took control of the game. With the championship still hanging in the balance, the Trojans delivered a relentless inning at the plate, stacking hit after hit and putting constant pressure on Pearl City’s defense. As the inning unfolded, Knox Marzo delivered the key swing that brought in the go-ahead and game-winning run, sparking the floodgates for Mililani’s explosive finish. Once the first wave of momentum hit, Pearl City had no response as the Trojans kept the pressure on and turned a close game into a runaway finish.
Mililani finished with 15 hits in the game, with the lineup coming through from top to bottom in the biggest moment of the season. Key at-bats throughout the order helped set the table for the late surge, with multiple players stepping up when it mattered most to keep the inning alive.
On the mound, Zayne Hookala delivered a strong outing, going 6 innings, allowing 3 runs, and striking out 6 to earn the win. His ability to keep Pearl City in check early allowed Mililani to stay within striking distance before the offense took over late. the trojans would complete the oia run and now shift their focus to bringing the koa wood trophy back to mililani. congratulations to the trojans baseball program, school, and community!
