The 2026 football season continued Saturday night as the No. 2-ranked Mililani Trojans welcomed the No. 7-ranked St. Louis Crusaders to Mililani for a matchup between two of Hawaiʻi’s top football programs. Coming off a comeback victory over Liberty in their season opener, the Trojans entered the night looking to build on that momentum, while St. Louis was searching for its first win of the season after falling to Kahuku in its opener. By the time the final whistle sounded, Mililani had put together a dominant three-phase performance, shutting out the Crusaders 42-0 and moving to 2-0 on the young season.
Mililani came out with control on both sides of the football and never allowed St. Louis to establish any consistent rhythm. The Trojans scored 42 points before the game went to a running clock, while the defense completely took over and held the Crusaders to just 174 total yards. St. Louis also turned the ball over five times, including four turnovers forced by the Mililani defense. The result was a complete performance from the Trojans in all three phases of the game.
Quarterback Hunter Fujikawa continued his strong start to the season, completing 11 of 14 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Fujikawa also added 22 yards rushing before giving way to backup quarterback Temaru Isaacs-Kalahiki in the second half. Fujikawa once again found plenty of success connecting with wide receiver Bless Cabrera-Hopkins, who finished with six receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Junior receiver Hayden Bajet also added three catches for 60 yards and recorded his first touchdown as a Trojan.
The Trojans also found production on the ground, with Toa Sam scoring two rushing touchdowns. Mililani's special teams unit got involved as well, forcing a fumble on kickoff coverage late in the first half that Matai Sam recovered and returned for another touchdown. Those plays helped Mililani build a 42-point advantage before halftime and showed just how well the Trojans were executing across the field.
While the Mililani offense received plenty of attention, the Trojans' defense was arguably the biggest story of the night. St. Louis quarterback Luke Shigeta finished 5-of-13 passing for 78 yards while throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble. The Crusaders were unable to find the end zone, marking the first time St. Louis had been shut out in a football game since the 2012 season finale against Punahou.
The victory gives Mililani back-to-back wins to open the season after the Trojans defeated Liberty 31-24 in their opener. The two victories have come in completely different ways, with Mililani fighting back from a 10-point halftime deficit against Liberty before putting together a dominant performance against St. Louis. Through two games, the Trojans have scored 73 points while allowing just 24.
For St. Louis, the result drops the Crusaders to 0-2 to begin the season after their opening loss to Kahuku. The Crusaders will now have time to regroup before returning to the field, with IMG Academy next on their schedule. Mililani, meanwhile, will remain at home next week when the Trojans welcome McClymonds.
For Mililani, Saturday night was more than another win. The Trojans showed they can respond in a close game, as they did against Liberty, and dominate when given the opportunity, as they did against St. Louis. With the season still in its early stages, Mililani has quickly established itself as one of the teams to watch in Hawaiʻi football.
