Pearl city, hi
in loving memory of ally tamayose
the pearl city chargers hosted it's annual #allytamastrong invitational and many teams across the islands participated in the tournament. #allytamastrong was started by the tamayose Ohana and the pearl city girls soccer team. ally was diagnosed with bone cancer at a young age and loved the game of soccer. when she was diagnosed, she unfortunately had to stop playing the game she grew up on and loved. after a 5 year hard fought battle, she passed away at the age of 16 on January 29, 2023. the preseason tournament means a lot to the family, team and community. it's a way to honor the legacy of ally and to honor her love and passion for the game of soccer.
the 3rd annual preseason tournament would see the pearl city chargers, castle knights, mililani trojans, kamehameha-kapalama warriors, kalani falcons and the punahou buff-n-blues.
the preseason match is a great tuneup match for all the participating teams. with league season around the corner, many players would use these games to see the strengths and weaknesses they have in order to strengthen themselves ahead.
Day 1:
the journey begins now
As we slowly start to see the end of the Football season, “Futbol” begins as we approach the winter season. The reigning and defending 3x Girls Soccer State Champs, Punahou Buff-N-Blue, faced off against reigning OIA Champs, Mililani Trojans. With this matchup being a preseason game, there’s a good chance the two will see each other again in the State Tournament. Punahou took a commanding lead led by Senior Forward, Maya Yoshimura with her 2 goals. The road for Punahou this season has started off strong as they look to conquer their 4th Koa Wood trophy.
final score: punahou 4 - mililani 0
final score: punahou 4 - mililani 0
The second double header on opening night for the #AllyTamaStrong Invitational saw the host team, Pearl City Chargers, taking on the Kalani Falcons. it was a special night for the chargers and tamayose Ohana. this would be their 3rd annual invitational and a familiar family member would be on the field in ally's honor. pearl city sophomore mid fielder, Keely tamayose, is the younger sister of ally. it was a very special night for her and the family as she gets the honor to play for her sister and keep her legacy alive.
The Lady Chargers started off the game attacking and found the back of the net early in the match. They would soon add another goal in the second half to eventually start off the tournament with a dub. Both teams look to use these early preseason matchups to set themselves up for the playoff run later this season and to get a chance to play in the State Tournament.
Final Score: Pearl City 2 - Kalani 0
