Kapolei, HI
The final play of the OIA season came down to the 2026 OIA D2 Boys Soccer Championship match between the Kahuku Red Raiders and the Waipahu Marauders. The Red Raiders headed into this match undefeated and the Marauders had their only loss to the Raiders earlier in the season, looking to avenge their loss.
The two teams meet again in the championship match and would be a rematch of last year’s final. Kahuku would beat Waipahu 2-1 after trailing majority of the game 1-0. With Kahuku looking to go back to back, the Marauders are looking to get their chance to become champions and having a better ending from last year.
Kahuku’s offense and defense has been solid all season. Before the championship match, they have only allowed 2 goals all season long. Along with their strong performance on defense, their offense has been on fire. They have been averaging 5 or more goals since the middle of December.
Leading the Raiders offensive front, Louis Faustino who has a season high of 13 goals and Paul Horcajo Jr with 12 goals. The duo fronts have been a threat to many defenses and have been putting up a performance as they hope to go far into the State Tournament.
Waipahu isn’t a team to overlook. They made a statement on opening night with a 9-0 win over Waialua and didn’t look back since then. Their only loss came early in the season from Kahuku with a 3-1 loss. The OIA D2 rematch in the season was not what the Marauders were looking for, but have found themselves set up against the Red Raiders again, looking to have a different ending.
Kahuku would get on the board in the 5th minute with a header from Sophomore Forward, Paul Jr Horcajo. Waipahu would later even the game with a goal from Keoni Tunglen off a free kick just 8 minutes later. With the game even at the half, it would be anyone’s game to win it all.
Kahuku’s pressure from the jump of the second half would find themselves adding 3 more goals from Paul Jr Horcajo, Makana Rich, and Louis Faustino. The two leading scorers and Rich goal set up the Raiders to take control of the game and get their second OIA D2 Championship in a row.
The boys up north would end this game dominating the second half and the Kahuku Red Raiders would be named your 2026 OIA D2 Boy’s Soccer Champions and back to back champions. Congratulations to the Red Raiders Boys Soccer Program, School, and Community!
