Justice Kekauoha, a junior guard for the ‘Iolani Lady Raiders, has been named the December 2025 Cover Athlete of the Month, presented by Matsumoto Shave Ice. The Waimanalo native has been a key leader for ‘Iolani, helping the team remain undefeated in ILH League play and averaging 17 points per game this season.
Kekauoha has played a central role in the Lady Raiders’ strong start, contributing both offensively and defensively. She was instrumental in leading the team to a semifinal appearance in the ‘Iolani Classic, where she earned a spot on the Girls All-Tournament Team. Across the three matches of the tournament, she averaged 13 points per game, demonstrating consistency and the ability to perform under pressure against top competition.
Her impact goes beyond scoring. As a true freshman, Kekauoha already played varsity and contributed to a state championship, showcasing her experience and maturity on the court. She has also competed alongside elite players on Jason Kidd’s travel team, giving her exposure to high-level competition and helping her develop the skills and leadership needed to guide her team this season.
This year, Kekauoha has become a focal point of the Lady Raiders’ offense, setting the pace in transition, creating scoring opportunities for teammates, and anchoring the team during critical moments. Her performance has been essential as ‘Iolani navigates the tough final stretch of the league season, including four challenging games that could determine their positioning for another Koa Wood championship run.
With her combination of experience, scoring ability, and leadership, Kekauoha continues to be a driving force behind ‘Iolani’s success. Her playmaking and consistent contributions highlight why she is one of Hawai‘i’s most accomplished young basketball players and a standout for this month’s award.
As the Month of December comes to an end, the search for a new Cover Athlete of the Month begins. Who is going to walk away with the award for January? Only time will tell as we announce the winner next month.
